How do I return my order?

Bed Linen

What cotton do you use?

All our bed linen is made from 100% hand-picked, long-staple Egyptian Giza cotton, OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified to ensure a safe product free from harmful chemicals.

Where is GIZAY bed linen produced?

In Egypt — with people we know and work with directly, who still inspect every fabric by hand.

What thread count does GIZAY use?

We have a thread count (TC) of 400, woven as single ply from 87 cotton count/Ne. Standard bed linen typically has a thread count of 100–150.

Single ply means our threads are woven from long cotton fibres and nothing else. The alternative, «multi ply,» is when manufacturers twist several weaker threads together to artificially inflate the thread count — three weak threads tied together count as three, without the fabric becoming finer or stronger. What matters is the quality of the material, and single ply ensures our thread count actually means a finer fabric.

What closure do your duvet covers and pillowcases use?

Pillowcases: side opening with an envelope-style pocket closure.

Duvet covers: inward-facing buttons, a stronger design that extends the buttons' lifespan.

Why do you use buttons instead of a zipper on the duvet cover?

We chose buttons to extend the lifespan of our products. If a zipper breaks, the entire zipper often needs replacing — leading many duvet covers to be discarded unnecessarily. Our buttons are placed close together, so losing one still leaves the cover fully usable. Should a button go missing, a spare is sewn into the inside of the cover.

What certifications does GIZAY bed linen hold?

We are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, ensuring minimal to no harmful chemicals in our products. The certificate is renewed annually for your peace of mind.

We also hold a certification from the Cotton Egypt Association. The organisation was established as a partnership between Egyptian cotton exporters and Egypt's Ministry of Trade, and its Gold Seal ensures our production undergoes a testing regime that includes DNA testing to confirm we sell authentic Egyptian cotton. This gives you, as a customer, assurance that you're buying a genuine product.

Care

At what temperature should I wash the bed linen?

This is a pure natural product that can tolerate a 60°C wash. If you wash frequently, a 40°C wash is gentler on all products.

Read more on our care guide.
Do you recommend using fabric softener?

There's nothing wrong with using fabric softener, but it isn't necessary when washing our bed linen. Note that some fabric softeners can build up in the fibres over time, which may slightly reduce the fabric's ability to absorb moisture.

Does the bed linen need ironing?

It doesn't need ironing to look good. Tumble dry the bed linen for 10 minutes after washing, then hang it up to finish drying.

If you have a little extra time, all fabrics look even better with ironing or steaming. An added benefit of ironing is that it flattens the fibres, making it harder for dirt to stick.
